A New Port Richey nurse was sentenced Friday to three years in prison for issuing illegal prescriptions after knowing her licensing was expired, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
Debora Ryder, 56, pleaded guilty to drug conspiracy in September, officials said.
Ryder’s licensing expired at the end of July, but in the following months she conspired with another person — who gave her more than a dozen IDs and driver’s licenses, officials said. She issued prescriptions for promethazine with codeine and oxycodone without being evaluated.
Between January 2021 and August 2022, she also issued 34 prescriptions for oxycodone and hydromorphone in the name of her husband who died in 2018, officials said.
Ryder has agreed to give up her nursing licenses.
