Drug Overdose Cases; Investigating and Preparing for Prosecution

Presentation Description:
This presentation will review the investigation of overdose cases from the crime scene, to preparing the case for prosecution, through interactive adult model teaching. Methods used by defense attorneys will be reviewed and discussed. Mini summaries of investigations where the dealer's manipulated their “customer's” substance abuse disorders for their financial benefit with complete disregard for the safety of the individuals using the product they were selling. The actions and lack of actions in the fact patterns will show the Requisite Intent and complete disregard for human life on the part of the dealers. A final list of fact findings which assists in successful prosecution and their importance in court will be reviewed.

Pharmaceutical Homicide: Do We Need a New Category of Controlled Substances?

This program explores the means through which pharmaceutical homicide can be committed, and the strategies that can be utilized to recognize and prevent murder with diverted medications.
