Security Technical Lead – Noramco
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
Technical expert responsible for developing, maintaining, evaluating and improving our site’s physical security systems. This includes CCTV, AC and Intrusion/Duress Alarms as well as perimeter barriers. Works daily to identify and correct any system issues to ensure a continuous, DEA compliant operation that protects employees, contractors, visitors, facilities and company assets. Conducts ongoing gap analyses of vulnerabilities and communicates areas of concern to Sr. Management. Partners with other departments or contractors for improvement or upgrade projects. Responsible for training security staff on the existing systems and ensuring their continued understanding.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Ensure the physical security systems function successfully in the protection of employees, visitors, building and assets by performing day-to-day troubleshooting and correction of minor CCTV and Access Control System issues. When warranted, coordinate and schedule equipment repairs, enhancements or replacement with third party contractors. Oversee the work of these contractors to ensure the job is done in a cost efficient, timely and accurate manner.
- Working with Maintenance, contractors and/or locksmiths, ensures all perimeter door and window hardware, as well as gates, fencing and barrier walls are secure at all times. In addition, ensures that the facility has the necessary lighting and landscaping maintenance in place to allow unauthorized entry to be detected.
- Partners with Noramco’s IT Department to keep all security equipment operating to IT standards and communicates any equipment changes that may require IT support well in advance.
- In partnership with Maintenance, IT and various third-party contractors, takes on a project management role for security-related projects, coordinating efforts from design through to completion. Project size and scope may vary; from replacing one camera, conducting a complete overhaul of the command center or installing coax and wireless connections. Tasked with keeping the project on time and within budget while still ensuring a quality output.
- Participates in meetings and conducts walk throughs of the site to ensure other projects and improvements occurring at the site don’t affect, block or necessitate new security equipment.
- Represents the Security function during DEA inspections, assisting with construction, system design and procedural questions, and assisting with the testing of alarms.
- Ensures that the Security Administrator, Shift Supervisors and Officers have the technical training and tools necessary to perform their job effectively. Provides access (or removal) and trains new officers on the Avigilon systems to ensure a smooth transition and execution of job duties. Continually provides training for system updates or changes and to maintain user knowledge.
- At the request of the Director, CS Compliance & Security (or other site management), conducts confidential security investigations (review of video, access control, interviewing personnel and assessing documentation as required).
- Identifies security vulnerabilities and recommends mitigation strategies both proactively and as needed.
- Maintains a small inventory of tools, parts and equipment to cover emergency CCTV or Access Control needs.
- Monitors after-hours email for emergency situations or project critical decisions that may occur (minimal).
- Serves as a liaison to local law enforcement. Supports customer and regulatory agency audits/inspections.
- Actively monitors local threats and incidents to ensure the company is being proactive in our security efforts.
- Acts as a source of reassurance to employees, visitors and contractors, that the site is a safe and secure workplace.
ADDITIONAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
- Security membership or certifications such as NADDI, ASIS International, Physical Security Professional (PSP) or Certified Protection Professional (CPP) are a plus.
- Experience with Avigilon AC or CCTV preferred.
- Complies with all company and site policies and procedures. Recognizes and reports unsafe or unsecure conditions and procedures to supervisors immediately with relevant documentation.
- Successfully completes regulatory and job training requirements (i.e. MasterControl), on time.
- Understands and responsibly performs duties with attention to safety, environmental matters, quality, compliance and security. This includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment in designated areas, recognizing, reporting and appropriately responding to hazards in the work area (spills, accidents, near misses, etc.), plus all other relevant job requirements.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Does not have direct supervision responsibility but will provides performance input on all security staff members in relation to their technical expertise.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, and/or EXPERIENCE
- Four-year degree preferred but will consider an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prefer pharmaceutical/chemical security background but open to other industries.
- Previous experience in law enforcement and/or with security system design, installation and monitoring
- In-depth technical expertise with CCTV, card access and alarm monitoring, especially (but not required) Avigilon.
- Understands/comprehends how security systems and technology hardware interact with network/IP.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Read, understand, and interpret documents such as security procedures, operating and maintenance instructions, government regulations, AutoCAD/mechanical drawings, blueprints and procedure manuals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact professionally with various levels of the organization, contractors, visitors and regulatory agencies.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Contribute to cost effective solutions for maintaining site security expenses.
REASONING ABILITY
- Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule format.
OTHER SKILLS ABILITIES OR QUALIFICATIONS
- Mechanical aptitude in security equipment and processes.
- Solid knowledge of computer software applications (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint & Excel, Outlook & TEAMs).
- Ability to multi-task, change tasks frequently, stay focused, maintain attention to detail, keep safety, security and compliance as the priority.
- Experience in dealing with regulatory agencies a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, climb, bend, and stoop. The employee uses hands to handle and feel and must reach with hands and arms.
- The employee frequently is required to talk, see, hear and smell.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- The employee is frequently exposed to weather conditions including occasional extreme heat and cold.
- The employee must be able to qualify for and use respiratory protective equipment when in designated areas.
