The Pima County Health Department has confirmed a dangerous new threat in Tucson's drug scene.
On May 8, 2025, blue pills marked “M30” seized by the Tucson Police Department tested positive for carfentanil, a synthetic opioid much stronger than fentanyl and morphine.
Authorities warn that these pills are visually identical to typical blue M30s, making it impossible to distinguish between them. This poses a severe risk of overdose and death to those who may unknowingly use these pills.
