LAREDO, Texas—U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Field Operations (OFO) officers seized methamphetamine in one enforcement action that totaled over $1.1 million in street value.
“As this seizure illustrates, officers at the Laredo Port of Entry continue to remain steadfast in carrying out CBP’s border security mission and protecting the public from illegal narcotics,” said Acting Port Director Eugene Crawford, Laredo Port of Entry.
The seizure occurred on Sunday, June 6th, at the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge, when a CBP officer referred a 2004 Volvo for a secondary examination. The vehicle was driven by a 20-year-old male United States citizen making entry from Mexico. Following a canine and non-intrusive imaging system examination, CBP officers discovered a total of 29 packages containing 55.46 pounds of alleged methamphetamine concealed within the vehicle.
The narcotics had an estimated street value of $1,109,354.
CBP seized the narcotics and the vehicle. The driver was arrested, and the case was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
