TX: Huge quantities of meth and heroin seized at U.S. border amidst COVID-19 pandemic

WJLA News –

CBP officers in Laredo seized $2.4M in meth and heroin hidden inside a vehicle arriving at the Gateway to the Americas Bridge, following a K9 alert.

While the worldwide COVID-19 outbreak has brought worldwide economies to a grinding halt, it doesn’t appear to be stopping the illegal drug trade.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seized over $2 million worth of methamphetamine and heroin Monday at the “Gateway to the Americas Bridge” that connects Laredo, Texas to the Mexico border.

CBP officers stopped a car for secondary inspection driven by a 36-year old female U.S. citizen coming from Nuevo Laredo, Mexico.

Inside, they found buckets containing 115 pounds of methamphetamine and just over two pounds of heroin.

The narcotics are estimated to have a combined street value of $2,404,775.
