In March 2024, several seizures of a white or tan colored powdery substance have occurred throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area, according to information from Phoenix law enforcement personnel. Laboratory analysis of the substances confirmed the presence of carfentanil. The synthetic opioid, carfentanil, is approximately 100 times more powerful than fentanyl.
