NC: Two arrested on 338 drug charges

Nurse Practitioner arrested for prescription forgery activities.

A Carthage woman and an Aberdeen man were recently arrested on 338 drug charges, according to a news release from the Moore County Sheriff’s Office.

Moore County Sheriff’s Department arrested McKenzie Williams Hampton, 40, and Terry Junior Graham, 45.

“During the investigation, approximately 1,385 dosage units of Oxycodone and 130 dosage units of Dextroamphetamine were found to be obtained by fraud/forgery,” said the release. “Oxycodone and Dextroamphetamine are listed as Schedule II controlled substances in the North Carolina Controlled Substance Act. The arrests were made at the conclusion of a lengthy drug investigation.  Oxycodone and Dextroamphetamine each have a high potential for abuse. These drugs currently are accepted for medical use or treatment in the United States with strict restrictions. Abuse of these drugs may lead to severe psychological or physical dependence.”

Hampton, who is a nurse practitioner, was charged with Dispense Medication Without a License-(27 counts), Practitioner/Others Intentionally Dispense Controlled Substance to Divert to Her Own Use-(13 counts), Obtain Controlled Substance by Fraud/Forgery-(27 counts), Felony Possession of Schedule II Controlled substance-(15 counts), Trafficking Opium or Heroin-(46 counts), Conspire to Traffic Opium or Heroin-(46 counts) and Simple Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance.

Graham was charged with Obtain Controlled Substance by Fraud/Forgery-(27 counts), Felony Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance-(15 counts), Trafficking Opium or Heroin-(46 counts), Conspire to Traffic Opium or Heroin-(46 counts), Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance-(28 counts) and Simple Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance.

Hampton’s bond was set at $2.5 million, and Graham was placed under a $50,000 bond.

The suspects have a May 7 court date and are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
