MO: Louisiana police chief, girlfriend make first court appearance

The Louisiana, Missouri, police chief and his girlfriend on Friday made their first court appearance following their arrest on Tuesday.

William Jones, 50, and Alexis J. (AJ) Thone, 25, are both facing felonies following the death of her brother.

During Friday’s hearing, bond remained in place for both Jones and Thone at the set amount of $150,000 and $100,000 cash only, respectively, according to online court documents.

The next court date for both defendants was also scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 2.

Jones is charged with second degree drug trafficking, tampering with physical evidence, and possession of a controlled substance. He’s in the Lincoln County Jail.

Thone is charged with second degree drug trafficking and possession of a controlled substance. She is in the Pike County Jail.

The charges stem from an incident on Monday, Oct. 18 when police were called to the couple’s apartment in the 2300 block of Kentucky St. in Louisiana for a report of a death.

When officers arrived, they discovered Thone’s brother, Gabriel Thone, 24, had died. Her other brother, a 21-year-old whose name hasn’t been released, was in respiratory distress but was revived with the drug overdose medicine Narcan and rushed to a nearby hospital, police said.

According to Louisiana Mayor Tim Carter, Jones is currently on administrative leave from his role as police chief.
