The Chief Operating Officer is responsible for the overall management of the NADDI websites and any special projects set forth by the Executive Board and Lisa has her hands full.

After retiring from Law Enforcement in 2015, Lisa has been working with the NADDI organization full time and is truly enjoying herself . Lisa’s duties include a little of this, a lot of that, a few other things, and a whole bunch of fun stuff.

I truly enjoy my position on the Executive Board because it gives me the opportunity to meet and work with so many wonderful dedicated individuals.

Lisa McElhaney was selected as the Chief Operating Officer of the National Association of Drug Diversion Investigators (NADDI) in 2019. NADDI is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that facilitates cooperation between law enforcement, healthcare professionals, state regulatory agencies, and pharmaceutical manufacturers in the investigation and prevention of prescription drug abuse and diversion.

Prior to her position as the COO, Lisa held numerous positions within the NADDI organization starting with the Florida Chapter President and moving to the National Board of Directors as the Secretary, then Vice-President, and also served as the National President.

Lisa retired in 2015 from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office (Ft. Lauderdale, Florida) after serving over 25 years as a sworn law enforcement officer. During her law enforcement career Lisa’s primary focus was in the pharmaceutical drug investigations field. She also held supervisory positions in the agency’s Pharmaceutical Drug Diversion Unit, the Crime Laboratory, and the Public Corruption Unit.

During her investigative career, she was the South Florida lead into various long and short term investigations into questionable health care practitioners and diverters of pharmaceutical drugs, and has been instrumental in the successful prosecution of numerous healthcare professionals that have abused the ethical, moral and legal standards of their professions, and the drug seekers that fueled their businesses.

Lisa was also aggressive for more than two decades in advocating for change working on various legislative initiatives directed at preventing & prosecuting pharmaceutical drug crimes, and was the driving force behind the push for a prescription monitoring program for the State of Florida. The 10-year initiative allowed her the opportunity to work with a wide variety of government agencies, membership organizations, and community prevention associations concerning the pharmaceutical drug trends, violations and the need for prevention practices.

Lisa has been a national trainer in the field of pharmaceutical drug related issues for more than 30 years, and has also been certified as an expert in state, federal and family court(s). She has been an active member of many state & federal associations focused on the related issues of controlled substances, and has also volunteered a significant amount of time to working with community coalitions.

For over twenty years Lisa worked with the United Way of Broward County’s Commission on Substance Abuse, which is a broad-based substance use/abuse coalition dedicated to reducing substance use/abuse and all its devastating consequences on individuals, families, and communities. While she served on their Board of Governor’s for over 20 years, she also Chaired several initiatives including their Prescription Drug Task Force (2005-2012); the Overdose Prevention Task Force (2012-2015), and also as the Vice-Chair of the Board of Governor’s (2011 – 2015).

Ms. McElhaney has a Bachelor of Science degree in Organization and Security Management and holds membership positions in a variety of State, Local, and National Drug Awareness Organizations.

Ms. McElhaney is also the owner and President of Organizational Security Management Corp, a special projects company working with various private industry and law enforcement agencies.
