FL: PBSO: 20 pounds of fentanyl found in Acreage home; man’s bail set at more than $2 million

Palm Beach Post –

Anthony Delano Henry faces several drug-related charges, including trafficking methamphetamines, fentanyl, cocaine and oxycodone.

ACREAGE — What started with a search warrant at a storage unit near Royal Palm Beach led to the arrest of an 38-year-old man for allegedly trafficking drugs he kept at the facility and in his Acreage home, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Included in the findings were nearly 20 pounds of the lethal narcotic fentanyl.

Anthony Delano Henry faces several drug-related charges, including trafficking methamphetamines, fentanyl, cocaine and oxycodone.

He remains in the Palm Beach County Jail after Circuit Judge Laura Johnson ordered he be held on more than $2 million bail, according to court documents. Once released, he will be on in-house arrest.

On Monday, agents went to Cubesmart storage on Belvedere Road near State Road 7, where they found thousands of oxycodone pills, a pill press, plastic bags and other drugs, including cocaine, bath salts, ecstasy and 28 pounds of methamphetamines.

While there, investigators also found a passport-sized photo of Henry, according to the report.

From there, investigators made their way to his Acreage home on Tangerine Boulevard, where they waited until he returned. After getting a search warrant, they found several other drugs and related items throughout the house.

In the kitchen, they found a black pistol, rubber gloves and a respirator mask that investigators say is typically used when working with chemicals, and a detector used to find “bugs,” or surveillance equipment.

Inside the garage, they found a “pill press mold,” where they say Henry was making counterfeit oxycodone pills using fentanyl.

Fentanyl, a powerful narcotic, is about 100 times stronger than morphine and 50 times more potent than heroin.

In 2018, fentanyl killed 278 people in Palm Beach County, more than in any other county in the state, a Florida Medical Examiners’ report found. From January through June 2019, 155 people died of fentanyl overdoses in Palm Beach County, the third-highest total in any Florida county during that time.

Throughout the home, investigators found nearly 20 pounds of fentanyl and 33 pounds of marijuana. Additionally, authorities found more cocaine, possible bath salts in a child’s bedroom, and narcotic gummies, among other items.

PBSO did not disclose how it came to identify Henry’s storage unit for possible drug trafficking other than a receipt for the unit that investigators found during a “trash pull” from his home Dec. 29. It’s unclear how long they had been monitoring Henry for alleged drug activity.

Henry previously served time in federal prison for intent to distribute drugs in 2008. In that case, he was convicted of supplying a woman who worked at a West Palm Beach strip club with ecstasy pills that she then sold, according to court documents.

He pleaded guilty in 2009 and was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison, according to records. He was released from federal custody in 2015 after another case in 2014. The details of that case were unknown Wednesday.
